Amber + Lee | Private Estate Wedding | Louisville KY
Friends, there is a very special wedding on the blog today! Not only are Amber and Lee super cool in their own right, but they are also climbers! That is actually how Amber and I met. We both climbed at Sportrock in Alexandria, VA before I moved to central VA, and she moved to Colorado to go to grad school. And wouldn’t you know it, she and Lee met at a climbing gym in Ft. Collins. You really do meet the best people climbing!
My sweet friend and second shooter Emily drove the 7 hours with me to Louisville, KY for their May wedding. The ceremony was held at St Francis Episcipal Church and the reception was a stones throw away at Lee’s parents home. It was a beautiful day for a wedding, and to be honest, I was a little worried. The prior three weekends the rain had followed me EVERYWHERE. I was starting to think I was jinxed.
We arrived at the church, where Amber and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Oh my word, this church is gorgeous! Giant windows everywhere! The bridesmaid all had beautiful navy dresses, with blush, cream, and green bouquets. I loved that Amber’s dress was so unqiue, just like her! Amber opted for a first look with her dad, and I think all our eyes were a bit misty on that one. Lee and Amber also did a first look in the church courtyard. I loved that they tied a bit of climbing in it, and did a “cam dance” with their trad gear.
After the ceremony, Lee, Amber, Emily, and I walked back to the reception so we could get a few more bride and groom portraits. We no sooner arrived at the reception, and the skies opened up. I’m telling you, I really may be jinxed! Everything about their day was beautiful and perfect for them. They decided against the traditional wedding cake, and instead went with an assortment of delicious pies! They also had a beautiful tree planting ceremony in Lee's parents backyard. The afternoon was filling with laughing and dancing, and capped of the night at a rooftop hotel after party.
Lee and Amber. I wish you a lifetime of love and laughter, and many more "cam dances"for years to come! Cheers!
