Purcell Park | Harrisonburg VA | Central Virginia Engagement Photographer
I actually met Wendy back in April, when I was second shooting her sister Heidi's wedding. I remember her family being so warm and welcoming and I was so very excited when Wendy and Drew emailed me about photographing their wedding next October!
Drew and Wendy both grew up in Harrisonburg and became friends in the 8th grade. That year they decided to perfect their tennis skills for high school try outs being held the following year. Their older sisters were best friends and were more than willing to provide transportation for them to hang out if that meant one day they could be related (sneaky sisters!!!)
They dated for a short time freshman year of high school, and after that they remained good friends, but did not begin seriously dating until after graduation. Wendy and Drew continued dating long distance while she was at James Madison and he went to VT. After college, Wendy went to Richmond to pursue her nursing career, and Drew found himself in the Shenandoah Valley. 6 years after making themselves "official" as a couple, Drew popped the question, and now they are looking forward to starting this next adventure in life together!
We met in downtown Harrisonburg at the Farmer's Market and walked around the town for a bit before heading over to Purcell Park. These two were soooooo easy to work with, and were smiling and laughing and playing the whole time. They made my job super easy, and I can not wait for their wedding next year!
Even though it was getting so cold, Wendy and Drew were not phased in the least! We even had time to play on the most amazing wooden castle I have ever seen. We may have even had a "Titanic" moment (see if you can spot it!) Another beautiful element to Drew and Wendy's engagement session was the quilt Drew brought with. It was handmade with love by his mom, and not only did it keep them warm, but it tied in perfectly to the rest of the evening! I absolutely loooooove personal and meaningful elements to any session, and I am so happy that they brought it! We had a great time, and I can only imagine what kind of fun their wedding will be!!
