Liz + Heath | Free Union Private Estate Wedding | Free Union, VA
Hurricane Matthew decided that this would be a good weekend to head to the US and throw a wrench in many couples' wedding plans. I am thrilled to say that Liz and Heath were NOT one of those couples. Rain or shine, everyone came because of the celebration of their joining their lives and their families together, and no amount of rain could dampen anyone's spirits.
Liz and Heath were married on her parents property overlooking the gorgeous Blue Ridge mountains. The fog and rain added a little extra something special too. Now, I have to give Heath MAJOR props. He cleared the island they were going to get married on. He filled in the backyard so the tent would have somewhere to sit. He cooked up delicious barbeque and brewed several tasty beers for guests to enjoy. Sweat, heart, soul, and love reallllly went into making this a beautiful day of love and celebration.
Bouquets of wildflowers graced all the tables, while Liz's bouquet was a beautiful explosion of color! Her boys always wanted to be a part of the ceremony, and they each got their own rings as well. How adorable is that!?
Liz and Heath chose to share a first look before the ceremony, with her two sons also a part of it. How cute are their umbrellas?! After a few quiet moments together, we all wandered down towards the pond, where we were greeted by Charlie, the friendly cow. Heath ever grabbed the bull by the horns, quite literally! That's ok, Charlie didn't mind. He just wanted corn. ;)
Before the ceremony, we were also able to squeeze in the family formals, which can be a huge portion of the day! Even Body, the boxer puppy, got in on pictures! With the rain pouring down, Liz and Heath exchanged their vows in front of their closest friends and family. Then, if on cue, the rain eased up and we were able to head back down to the water for a little boat time. How freaking awesome are these two!? They certainly drew a crowd, from weddings guests to the neighbor horse.
The cake cutting was unique because there wasn't a cake! Liz and Heath also used it as a time to celebrate Lizs' son's8th birthday. How sweet! The night kicked off with some pretty impressive dancing, and everyone had a great time sending the newly weds off via thousands of bubbles!
Liz and Heath, thank you so much for allowing me into your world for a day to capture the magic that is your love. Cheers to a lifetime of Love and Adventure! <3
