Mike + Sara | James Monroe Highland | Charlottesville Virginia
Mike and Sara's wedding day was one for the books! One thing that really stood out was how know matter what little mishaps occurred, these two didn't let anything get in the way of the true meaning of the day....their marriage! From the AC going out in the bridal suite, to the trolley breaking down, Sara and Mike took everything in stride, and nothing but happiness and joy filled the air this day!
Sara incorporated a few really fun and special pieces into her day, such as gluing sixpence to the bottom of her sandals, since she didn't have shoes to place them in! Her grandfather was a jeweler and she wore a stunning bracelet and earrings made by him! Her brother also gave her a beautiful bracelet which features a beautiful "evil eye" meant to protect and keep loved ones safe!
Another hilarious point in the morning was when the groomsmen carried out an Armenian tradition of "kidnapping" the bride! How often are men on time? Never! Except this day. They showed up psyched and ready to carry Sara away, only to be turned away because she wasn't in her dress yet! We could hear them hooting and hollering outside, and the second time around, the kidnap was successful!
Mike and Sara shared their first look on the bright and sunny rooftop bar at the Graduate hotel, and then it was time to head to Ashlawn Highland!
I feel so blessed to work with such fun couples, and Sara and Mike are no exception! Once we arrived at Ashlawn, we headed over to the ceremony site, and the moo cows were in the field right on the other side of the fence. Sara was SO EXCITED to take a photo with the cows, and how could I not be excited too! We are both animal lovers, and it was such fun getting excited over the mama and baby cows in the field!
Being a bluebird day, I managed to find us some shade to take photos! Their dog Django was in quite a few, and I think he temporarily stole the show (everyone was ok with that though!)
As you will see, Sara is an absolute stunner, and Mike was looking mighty handsome too! Its a beautiful thing to see deep seated love between two people, and it was so obvious that Mike and Sara have that!
After the ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour, and we got a few more bridal party photos, and then it was time to get the party started! The trolley was fixed, and showed up for a few photos too! For desert, Carpe Donuts dished out mouthwatering donuts and ice cream, and Sara may have done a very happy twirl in front of their food truck ( Donuts make everyone happy!)
